A Normal(ish) Schedule

We're about two months in at this point, and it seems that Sam is really beginning to adhere to a schedule that is fairly regular. Leading up to this point, I remember having multiple moments when I wondered when this day would actually come while starting out at a foggy world through my third cup of coffee and rocking, rocking, rocking...

I know how lucky the two of us are that our boy is coming to terms with a fairly normal schedule, that we are both home with him while he figures it out, and that his schedule really does jive with the reality that there is an outside world holding a similar schedule.  In general, he sleeps at night and is up during the day in decent stretches, and this is awesome. How does he know whether it is night or day? Beats me, but he gets it. Here is a rundown of what a typical day looks like in the life of Samuel Grey:

6:30am - Sam is awake, is ready for food
7:00am - Sam enjoys awake time (usually swinging, playing with toys)
8:30am - Sam is ready for more food and a nap
9:00am - Sam takes a nap
10:00am - Nap complete/cute baby time with the smiling and the noises
10:30am - Cute time is over, mid-morning meal must begin
11:00am - More awake time for toys, socialising, etc.
12:00pm - Fussy gussy needs a nap and takes his long one
2:00pm - Long nap complete, long feeding commences
2:30pm - Ongoing cranky baby syndrome is resolved with a diaper blowout
2:45pm - After cleanup, sweet Sam returns with the cooing and smiles
3:00pm - More playing, chatting, and hanging out with mom and dad
4:00pm - Hungry Sam
4:30pm - Nap for Sam
5:30pm - Awake and hungry!
6:00pm - Rock and soothe Sam, begin to calm down for the night
8:00pm - Sam goes to sleep
1:00am - Late night bottle for the boy
1:30am - Back to sleep
3:30am - Snack time, and attempt to keep mom and dad awake with cuteness and feigned awareness
4:30am - Final sleep begins
6:30am - Rinse and repeat

You'll notice that in this optimal Sam schedule, there isn't time built in for daily events, bathing, rocking, or any of that. When those things occur, Sam just sleeps less, eats more, and gets grumpy quicker.

Don't get me wrong, Sam is a wonderful baby and we love him dearly.  In fact, since his shots on Monday, he has been sleeping for stretches of 7 to 8 hours at night, which is amazing for a 2.5 month old.  I just wanted to give a play-by-play of what seems to me to be pretty standard baby activity.

FYI, he is now 24 inches tall and 12 lbs. 14 oz. as of his last visit, meaning he is now certainly on track weight wise and tall for his age. We are blessed to have a healthy baby boy!
